Betta Fish Tank Setup

September 29 2020

Most people think you can put a betta fish in a cup and they will be fine. But a betta fish needs a good tank set up to thrive.

1. Tank

Betta fish need at least 2 gallons of water, but a bigger tank would be better. You should get a 5 gallon tank. A good tank is the Top Fin® Essentials Aquarium Starter Kit. It comes with a light, a thermometer, and a filter. Do not use a filter because it is too strong for a betta fish.

2. Heater

Betta fish need a heater. Most pet stores tell you that betta fish don’t need a heater. A good heater is the Aqueon Preset Aquarium Heater, 50W.

3. Gravel and decor

You will probably want to make the tank look nice, so you can get fake planks from a pet store. If you want, you can get live plants, but live planks require more work and can be expensive. Don’t get stones to put on the bottom of the tank because they are harder to clean. Get Top Fin® Premium Quality Aquarium Gravel and pick which color you want. Also, betta fish need a hiding place. You pick any hiding place you want, but a good one is the Top Fin® Cichlid Rock Aquarium Ornament

4. The Fish

Never get a betta fish from a big box pet store because they don’t take good care of their fish. Get your fish from a fish store, or a pet store that gets their fish from a fish breeder. Never buy a fish online because they usually are not healthy.
